the aim of awareness campaigns:

  • Emphasis on the importance of the role of Rand Water in the supply of water services;
  • Educate the public on how to identify Rand Water servitudes and the risk associated with dangers of encroachments.
  • The impact of encroachments on the water supply in the event of burst pipelines; and
  • the restrictions on Rand Water’s ability to maintain, repair and augment its infrastructure.

Stakeholder engagements

Once an encroachment is identified, Rand Water engages with all affected parties comprising of the public, councillors and local authorities on removal of encroachment.



Litigation

•Rand Water litigates against the encroachers with the objective of obtaining court orders to demolish and removal of all encroaching structures
